Getting Ready to Be a Caseworker

Caseworker Readiness is designed to help new caseworkers prepare for the duties
and responsibilities of the child welfare caseworker. Resources and activities include
strategies and suggestions to explore:
  • Best practice standards
  • Agency-specific policies and procedures
  • Specific job functions (Screening, Investigation, & Assessment; Case
    Planning & Implementation; Placing & Working with Children in Substitute Care
    & Their Families; and Working with Foster & Kinship Caregivers & Adoptive
    Parents)

Note:  Caseworker Readiness may be utilized in conjunction with New Employee Orientation, prior to attending Caseworker Core training.  There is also a Supervisor Readiness section to prepare new casework supervisors.
